Scholarships
Vikingeskolen is very proud to announce that two scholarships for one semester each will be available for the 08\09 school year sponsored by the Danish American Language Foundation.
The purpose of the Danish American Language Foundation is to help
preserve the Danish language and culture in the United States. Most
importantly the Foundation's purpose is to contribute to the
preservation of the Danish voice in the United States in form of
financial support to the Danish newspapers 'Den Danske Pioneer' which
was founded in Chicago in 1872 and 'Bien' which was founded in Los
Angeles in 1882.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Children, adults, current students of the school and all members of the Danish community in the Houston area may apply , excluding members of the Vikingeskolen board
- Vikingeskolen board reviews and selects two winners who are awarded one semester each based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Financial hardship
- Family with multiple students
- Newly arrived Danish-Danish families whose children could benefit from
Danish/American friends and language training in both Danish and English
- The registration deadline is May 3, 2008 (entries after this date are not considered)
- Winners will be notified on May 19, 2008
- To apply, applicants should fill out Vikingeskolen's standard registration form. Applicants may enroll at the same time (should they not receive the scholarship).
