Jobs & Volunteering

One of the key factors of success for Vikingeskolen is for parents and the Danish community in Houston at large to come together. Similar initiatives has taken shape in Washington DC, San Francisco and Atlanta so why should Houston be any different? The fourth largest city, Houston has the potential to make a Danish school a great success.

We look for dedicated & active parents, volunteers and salaried teachers, preferably with a Folkeskole or Pædagoguddannelse or other similar (see job openings below).

NEW As something new Vikingeskolen now offers families the opportunity to reduce tuition costs significantly through volunteer tuition. This new option is particularly advantageous to large families or those who cannot or do not want to come every Saturday. It is also intended to give a much needed break to those volunteers who now since the school's inception has made it possible to keep our tuition as low as possible:

  1. A 50% discount on tuition for all family enrollments, can be obtained,  if an adult family member commits to being an assistant teacher for at least 6 classes per semester. (see job description below)
  2. A 100% discount on all family enrollments can be obtained if an adult family member commits as a primary teacher (as needed). (see job description below)
  3. Families with four or more students can enroll student number four, five etc. for FREE

If the above is not for you, there is still plenty of opportunities to volunteer for free. For example, we look for a librarian, a breakfast/snack coordinator, and bringers hereof. In fact, our school depends on your volunteer work as we cannot cover our expenses on tuition alone.

To volunteer, please use our volunteer form. To apply for one of the positions below please send application to Christina Linderholm.
